Fre flight practical lecture 2024

For the third time after the corona break and airfield change, the flight test practical course took place yesterday at Pirna-Pratzschwitz airfield in cooperation with Akademische Fliegergruppe / Aeroclub Pirna. Unlike in 2022 and 2023, this time there was no possibility to offer aircraft towing.

The winch launch was therefore used. Since the altitude reached is lower and therefore less flight time is safely available, the test program was adapted accordingly and each of the seven test participants was given two launches.

In contrast, the winch launch is much more spectacular and its CO_2 balance is much more favorable, especially as most of the participants arrived by bicycle.

The program again comprised simple measurement tasks that could be completed with on-board instruments and simple additional equipment such as a stopwatch and woollen threads.

In addition to determining the towing time and release altitude as a function of the wind, which was new this time, this also included flow structures in slow flight and circular flight conditions.
