Dresden Science Night in the wind tunnel
During the Dresden Science Night on June 14, 2024, numerous visitors experienced up close the fascination of aerodynamics and flight control in the wind tunnel building. Young and old alike learned about the importance of flight control and the challenges of an increasingly digitalized and automated world. The chair's current research topics and projects were presented on many posters.
The open test section of the Göttingen-type wind tunnel with a nozzle opening diameter of 3 meters was accessible and allowed a look behind the impressive scenes. Models of various aircraft components and well-known buildings such as the Allianz Arena in Munich or the Beyers Building at TU Dresden were on display. These had already been measured in the wind tunnel in the past.
Wind tunnel in action
During regular demonstrations of the TU Dresden's low-speed wind tunnel, which is already over 60 years old, various flow phenomena were visualized on a futuristic flying car using a thread and fog probe.
