Research of Technology Leaders
The professorship is a byword for excellent and visionary research for many years. Inspired by today's issues, we face tomorrow's challenges.
Research focuses
At the Chair of Construction Machinery, the focus is on three main research areas. First and foremost, the automation of construction machinery, which encompasses both machine and process automation, addresses topics ranging from human-machine process interaction through assistance systems, remote handling and (partial) automation of individual machine functions as well as machine work processes and robotics systems. The second area includes drive systems and components, in which the topics of hybridization and electrification are located. In addition, basic topics such as tribology and materials development are dealt with in this research area against an application-oriented background, with reference to the application area of construction machinery. The third research area, Construction Processes, includes the topics of digitalized building construction using concrete 3D printing and rock crushing using electric pulse processes for applications in deep drilling technology, ore processing and selective deconstruction. In each of these research areas, the Chair of Construction Machinery has assumed a pioneering position both nationally and internationally.
