25th Dresden Machine Tool Seminar June 18/19, 2024
The era of Industry 4.0 is now more than 10 years advanced. Many companies in the mechanical and plant engineering sector are presenting new data-based use cases, products and business models. Other companies, on the other hand, are still looking for the right approach and innovative ideas for using data for their machines and processes or for future-proof business models. On the other hand, associations are working on concepts and standardizations to enable and simplify the networking of machines and the exchange and use of data. Many research institutions are presenting demonstrators for applications ranging from machine learning algorithms to artificial intelligence, which can be used to monitor machine health, optimize technological processes or plan more efficient production processes.
That is why we want to outline the current status of the transition from mechatronic to cyber-physical machine tools under the motto Machine tools and their data. The lectures will present original solutions from industry and research that use data for different applications. We have chosen to focus on predictive maintenance, efficient process commissioning during forming, machine collaboration and remote operation. The programme is complemented by innovative development methods and standardizations that mechanical engineering should be aware of and use for future developments. For example, the standardized universal interface UMATI and the concept of the administration shell AAS support the manufacturer-independent data exchange between machine tools and other production systems for data processing for different planning levels.
The event will take place on 18 and 19 June 2024 under the auspices of the AI Demonstration and Transfer Centre for Forming Technology (ProKI-Dresden) and is being organized in cooperation with DWM e.V. at the TUD Dresden University of Technology.
