ISO TC 39/SC 2 standards committee holds meeting at TU Dresden
From September 11 to 15, 2023, the standards committee of the International Organization for Standardization ISO TC 39/SC 2 "Test conditions for metal cutting machine tools" was a guest at the Chair of Machine Tool Development and Adaptive Controls.
During this week the representatives of the national standardization committees from Italy, China, USA, Great Britain, Sweden, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Japan discussed the revision of the ISO standards on test conditions for metal cutting machine tools.
The meetings focused on test conditions for milling and turning centers, as well as for grinding machines and wire-cut EDM machines with regard to their geometric accuracy and for determining positioning accuracy under no-load or quasi-static conditions. In addition, guidelines for acceptance tests of machine tools to be used as coordinate measuring machines were discussed.
During the visit to the test field in the Kutzbach Building, the participants were able to gain a broad insight into the research and development work on determining spatial motion accuracy and the use of data-driven and simulative methods in condition monitoring of failure-critical components of machine tools.
We thank all participants for the lively exchange of ideas, lively discussions and enriching encounters. Our thanks also go to the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering for support in organizing the event.
