Studying Machine Tools Development and Control Engineering
The Chair of Machine Tools Development and Adaptive Controls offers a wide variety of modules and lectures for the degree courses of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics in both basic and main courses.
Modules
The chair offers a variety of lectures, seminars and practical courses for the courses of study Mechanical Science and Engineering, Mechatronics as well as for the Studium Genereale. The focus is on the design, development and analysis of machine tools and their components, the design of machine control systems and machine learning in production engineering. In addition, students are regularly provided with new, research-related topics for student research projects and theses, as well as for SHK activities.
Educational Goal:
The education in Production Engineering as a field of study is very broad and cross-sectoral, so that students can be very flexible after graduation.
Students have the opportunity to choose from various specializations (educational goals):
- Development engineer: design, construction, development of products, preliminary research for new products
- Process engineer: application of manufacturing processes, process research and technology testing, process design, production metrology and quality assurance
- Systems engineer: project planning, organization, planning and control of production, parts manufacturing and assembly, production automation
Advantages of the field of study:
- Cross-industry education: Automotive industry, mechanical and plant engineering, aerospace industry, renewable energies and many more.
- diverse specializations: Manufacturing processes and tools, factory planning and process design, machine tool development, etc.
- basic and practical research: physical and material understanding of processes; developing and using tools, processes, machines; planning and organizing production; designing products, equipment and machines
