DigiTain project meeting in Ulm
DigiTain: The development of processes, methods and models for fully digital product development and certification is progressing
The DigiTain (Digitalization for Sustainability) research project for the fully digital product development of sustainable electric drive architectures is already entering its second half.
On July 3, 2024, around 110 participants from the consortium met for the fourth DigiTain project meeting in a hybrid format. The 80 local participants were welcomed by the project partner Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research (ZSW) in Ulm. After a welcome address by Dr. Norbert Dölle (Mercedes-Benz, project coordinator) and Prof. Dr. Markus Hölzle (ZSW, host & project partner), the focus shifted directly to the current status of the work packages and the report on the goals and milestones achieved by the WP leads. Once again, the participants took the opportunity to discuss further research work and interfaces in workshops and to plan the next steps.
The next major event with significant participation from DigiTain is the Stuttgart Conference on Automotive Production (SCAP2024) at ARENA2036 in Stuttgart in November (20 to 22.11.2024), to which the interested specialist public is also cordially invited. Further information on participation opportunities can be found here.
The Chair of Virtual Product Development is working closely with the Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology in work packages 1 and 2 of the DigiTain research project. In WP1, a sustainability-oriented product development process (NEP) is being developed. The aim is to optimize the life cycle assessment at component and overall vehicle level during the product development process. In WP2, the documentation and traceability of calculation process chains for a more predictive CAE modeling and validation of vehicle components is considered. The focus here is on recording the relevant intermediate results and optimization steps in PDM/PLM systems. The Dresden project partner XPLM Solution GmbH is involved in the project with the necessary program implementation and integration of new interfaces.
