Systembiotechnology
The lecture contains basically the following topics:
- Stoichiometric analysis of metabolic networks (flux balance analysis, elementary flux mode analysis)
- 13C-based metabolic flux analysis
- Concepts for mathematical modelling of the regulation of metabolic pathways (metabolic control analysis)
- DNA engineering for the optimisation of protein expression
- Implementation and evaluation of transcriptome analyses (next generation sequencing, hierarchical clustering, functional genomics)
The lectures are accompanied by computer exercises in which the students are introduced to various programmes:
- CellNetAnalyzer for stoichiometric analysis of metabolic networks
- 13C-Flux and OMIX for the evaluation of metabolic flux experiments
- COPASI for metabolic control analysis
- R for statistical analysis of transcriptome studies
Workload and audience
- 4 weekly lecture hours in the winter semester ( 2 h lecture and 2 h exersice)
- for interested students of bioprocess engineering and students of biological disciplines.
