Excursion to the highest timber construction in Saxony: Impressions from the "VOR-N" project
Spannender Einführungsvortrag zum Holzbau-Projekt
Students and staff from the Chair of Wood Technology and Wood-based Bioeconomy recently had the opportunity to visit the construction site of what will be Saxony's tallest timber construction building. The new extension is being built in the listed industrial ensemble "Vorwärts" and sends a strong signal for innovative and sustainable building culture.
Many thanks to rka Architekten for the exciting project presentation and for making the tour possible!
About the building:
- Frame construction with particularly slim beams made of beech
- Ceilings made of spruce CLT, combined with
- Fire walls and stairwells made of reinforced concrete for safety and stability
- High degree of prefabrication enables an impressive construction speed of up to one storey per week
- High ecological standards, including PV façade elements that complement the energy concept in a meaningful way
An inspiring excursion that shows the potential of modern timber construction - technically, architecturally and ecologically.
