The Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering, Institute of Fluid Mechanics, at the Chair of Turbomachinery and Flight Propulsion, is seeking to fill a position as of the earliest possible date, subject to available funding, as a
scientific Research assistant / doctoral student (m/f/d)
(if the personal requirements are met E 13 TV-L)
for 36 months with the option of extension (duration of employment according to WissZeitVG). There is the opportunity to gain your own scientific qualifications (usually doctorate).
Tasks: Numerical flow simulations are playing an increasingly important role in the design of turbomachinery and aircraft engines. RANS simulations are used as standard. At the Chair of Turbomachinery and Flight Propulsion, these simulations have been successfully coupled with probabilistic methods for years. As part of a research project funded by the BMWK, the effects of the production scatter of engine compressor blades are to be aerodynamically evaluated using flow simulations. For these analyses, you will develop new methods of machine learning in the field of aircraft engines and initiate technology projects with industrial partners through your work. You will present your results both internally and externally in the form of scientific publications and at international conferences.
Requirements: above-average academic degree in engineering. University degree in engineering, preferably with a focus on turbomachinery or aerospace engineering; structured and independent analytical working style; high level of quality awareness and team orientation; language skills: German and English, very good written and spoken skills. Programming skills, ideally in Python and the common modules (e.g. NumPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) are an advantage, as is experience with numerical methods in the development and analysis of turbomachinery.
The TUD aims to increase the proportion of women and therefore expressly invites applications from women. The university is a certified family-friendly university and has a dual career service. Applications from severely disabled people are particularly welcome. In the case of equal suitability, these persons or persons with equal status by law (SGB IX) will be given preference.
Please send your informative application with the usual documents (cover letter with research interests, CV, certificates, references) under the keyword "Probabilistik" by 30.10.2024 (the postmark of the Central Post Office or the time stamp on the TUD e-mail server applies) to: TU Dresden, Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering, Institute of Fluid Mechanics, Chair of Turbomachinery and Flight Propulsion, Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Ronald Mailach, Helmholtzstr. 10, 01069 Dresden or via the SecureMail portal of the TUD https://securemail.tu-dresden.de as a PDF document to Your application documents will not be returned, please submit only copies. Interview costs will not be covered.
