Chitin science and its applications - Award to the ITM and its valued project partners
The Conference of the Polish Chitin Society, which took place fromSeptember 24 to 26 , 2025 in Łódź (Poland), once again provided an outstanding platform for scientific exchange, the presentation of current research results and the discussion of future developments in the field of chitin science and its applications.
The Institute of Textile Machinery and High Performance Material Technology (ITM) was represented this year with two scientific contributions. Sabrina Scheele presented a paper on "Chitin and chitosan filament yarns from various natural sources for medical and technical applications". In addition, Irina Kuznik, together with our valued project partners Katja Heppe and Anke Wunder from Biolog Heppe GmbH, presented the paper "insectmatter - insect-based chitin for the regional bioeconomy".
The latter presentation was highly appreciated by both the expert jury and the audience and was honored with the Recognition Award for the Best Short Talk.

The ITM would like to thank the organizers of the conference and the scientific community for the inspiring exchange, the valuable suggestions and the numerous impulses for future research work. Participation in this internationally renowned event provided an excellent opportunity to discuss current scientific issues and deepen existing collaborations.
