Prof. Gert Heinrich receives the world-renowned Charles Goodyear Medal from the Rubber Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS)
We congratulate Prof. Dr. rer. nat. habil. Gert Heinrich on receiving the world-renowned Charles Goodyear Medal from the Rubber Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS). The well-respected award, named after Charles Goodyear, the inventor of rubber vulcanization, was given to Prof. Heinrich at the Spring Technical Meeting of the Rubber Division, ACS in Florida on March 5, 2025. It honors individuals for their outstanding inventions, innovations or developments that result in a significant change or contribution to the rubber industry.

Prof. Gert Heinrich has been working with rubber and polymer networks for 51 years (since 1974). During this time, he has made significant contributions to the advancement of rubber research. Among other things, he has developed a concept for the research field of "Rubberiomics" on the basis of his holistic research approach to elastomers. Prof. Heinrich was head of the Institute of Polymer Materials at the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden e.V. Today, he is Senior Research Professor at the ITM.
The ITM would like to congratulate Prof. Gert Heinrich on his outstanding achievement. We hope, true to his motto: that he will remain as flexible and resilient as rubber in his future research, without letting it bend him.
