The German School Temperley becomes a new cooperation school of TU Dresden in Argentina
Since 2022, the German School Temperley and TU Dresden have been closely linked through the DAAD project of the German Schools Abroad and Partner Schools Support Initiative (BIDS) and this partnership was consolidated in a cooperation agreement at the beginning of 2024.
The signed contract was officially handed over to the Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Kobel, at the end of February 2024 during a school visit by 23 students from the German School Temperley. The pupils from 11th grade spent four days in Dresden during their three week trip to Germany and got to know the TU Dresden in addition to the tourist attractions of the baroque old town.
The program included a warm welcome from Prof. Dr. Kobel and an introduction to the study opportunities at TU Dresden from the BIDS team of the International Office, as well as a lab tour on the topic of "humanoid robots, mobile robots and drones" with Dr. Ariel Podlubne, a cloud chamber workshop by the Faculty of Physics and the foam laboratory of fluid mechanics in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
Finally, TU students, who themselves graduated from German schools in Latin America, presented their courses of study and their life away from home in Dresden. This exchange of first-hand experiences was particularly appreciated, as many aspects of everyday student life were addressed in an informal manner and cultural particularities were also taken into account.
The cooperation includes a number of initiatives, including taster opportunities for pupils from the German School Temperley, who have the opportunity to get to know TU Dresden from a distance or directly on site and gain insights into various courses of study. In addition, teachers can take part in further training courses and workshops at TU Dresden in order to expand their skills and knowledge in their subject area and for study guidance.
As part of the BIDS project, graduates of the international partner schools can apply for a TU Dresden motivation scholarship. These are intended to help attract and support talented and committed students from Argentina to study at TU Dresden.
