English-language content to the Long Night against Procrastination 2024
On Thursday, March 7 from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., the big online cooperation event Long Night against Procrastination for academic writing and learning for students and doctoral candidates will take place again this year.
Writing consultants and experts on academic writing will be available for individual consultations (also in English) in the virtual lobby. Anyone who wants to make progress with their texts can come together in the writing room. In addition, there will be interactive lectures and workshops on (almost) all questions relating to academic writing and health conditions in five Zoom conference rooms.
In addition to the consultations, the following events will be held in English or bilingually:
- "Part 1: AI tools in the writing process - opportunities & risks", lecture 16:30 - 17:15
- "Part 2: AI tools in the writing process - opportunities & risks", lecture 17:30 - 18:15
- "Reader-friendliness in English texts", workshop 19:45 - 20:30
- "One day or day one - How not to put off your writing", workshop 22:00 - 22:45
During the breaks, you can recharge your batteries with yoga and eye gymnastics. >> to the detailed program schedule (PDF, not barrier-free)1

Overview of the program
Anyone looking for inspiration for academic writing will find individual advice and, as in previous years, a wide range of workshops on AI tools, literature management, text revision, argumentation checking, plagiarism prevention, time management, open access and writer's block prevention.
The topics of health and good framework conditions for academic work are also part of the program again this year: those who want to deal with this will find offers on nutrition, motivation, yoga, mindfulness and sleep hygiene or on topics such as "Studying for a doctorate with a child" and "Studying with ADHD: insights from research and tips for practice". There are also formats such as an open exchange on the topic of "Studying with neurodiversity" and consultation hours on intestinal health, allergies and intolerances as well as eye training.
And those who prefer to use the evening and night to work can learn and write together with other participants in the virtual writing room and thus benefit from a collaborative atmosphere and group dynamics.
The event is organized as a cooperation between the SLUB Dresden, the Writing Center of the TU Dresden, the SchreibCenter and the ULB of the TU Darmstadt and the Schreibwerkstatt and the library of the University of Stuttgart. All offers are developed and provided by experts in writing didactics, nutritional counseling and systemic coaching.
