The TUD's international strategic partners
The TUD has established a select portfolio of strategic partners and regions. Here you will find the most important partnerships and their main focuses at a glance.
transCampus

Doktorand:innen des IRTG 2251
TU Dresden has established the first transCampus with King's College London. Both universities have excellent, complementary infrastructures and expertise. The cooperation was successfully extended from an established collaboration in medicine - metabolic diseases - to psychology, communication systems, materials science and mathematics.
Based on this partnership, TUD has developed a unique model that has become a blueprint for other collaborations. Achieving excellence in research and development remains at the heart of each of these partnerships.
For example, the TUD is now also linked to IIT Madras in a transCampus. The focus of the cooperation with the top Indian university is on technology-driven solutions for adapting to climate change - whether in the areas of water, transport or other sustainability issues. Together with IIT Madras, the research area of microelectronics is also to be further strengthened and the entrepreneurial and start-up culture of the scientists promoted.
A corresponding intensification of the cooperation with ETH Zurich is currently being developed. The foundation for this was laid with the acquisition of the International Research Training Group MEDIS, which was launched in 2025.
EUTOPIA
TU Dresden joined the European University Alliance EUTOPIA in 2021. The members of this alliance of European universities are working together on new ways of academic cooperation as an element of the European Higher Education Area. One focus here is on the so-called connected learning communities.
Students, lecturers, researchers and staff can find out more about the opportunities for participation on the TU Dresden's EUTOPIA website and seek advice from our contact person Harald Schraeder.
Partnerships in the border region (CZ-PL-SN)
With the cross-border partnerships Saxony-Lower Silesia and the regions around Usti nad Labem, Liberec and Prague on the Czech side, TU Dresden is pursuing the goal of increasing its economic and social impact and strengthening the region's science and business location across borders. In addition to universities, economic and social stakeholders are also involved in the partnerships, resulting in a transregional exchange of knowledge between research, teaching and practice.
Partnerships in Taiwan, India and sub-Saharan Africa
The global challenges of this century also play a major role in TU Dresden's international partnership work. International partnerships are intended to contribute to overcoming these challenges. Particular attention is paid here to selected priority regions in Asia and Africa and the sustainability goals of the United Nations.
