What collections can do - linking different botanical collections in teaching
A new teaching format was developed and tested at the Institute of Botany at TU Dresden as part of the Mercator Foundation 's "SammLehr - teaching and learning with objects" funding program. The aim was to visit the three botanical collections - Botanical Garden, Herbarium Dresdense and Palaeobotanical Collection - in a two-week practical course on the topic of "Evolution and biodiversity - the development and decay of plant species", where students visit all three collections, take material and receive background information on the collections.
The results of the funding program were presented at a conference in Berlin in May 2015 and have since been published in a conference volume.
