S+T+ARTS Online-Colloquium "Bernat Cuní: VR TERROIR"
Online Colloquium "Echoes of Tomorrow": Bernat Cuní: VR TERROIR
Bernat Cuní (artist) in conversation with Susanne Malheiros (High-Performance Computing Center Stuttgart)
Moderator: Matvey Fridman (Media Solution Center Baden-Württemberg e.V.)
The eighth session of the online colloquium “Echoes of Tomorrow” focuses on Bernat Cuní’s artistic project “VR TERROIR.” Just as wine derives its character from its soil and environment, our virtual identities are shaped by the computational environments we inhabit. Created in collaboration with the High Performance Computing Center Stuttgart (HLRS), VR TERROIR explores digital embodiment through dynamic, evolving 3D avatars, asking what it means to belong to a digital ecosystem.

Ten artists have developed innovative projects at the intersection of art, science, and technology as part of the S+T+ARTS EC(H)O Residencies since January 2024. Starting in January 2026, the online colloquium Echoes of Tomorrow will provide insights into their results, thought processes, and collaborative approaches to an engaged public. In dialogue with selected experts, central questions of the projects will be explored: Which discourses drive the artists? How do scientific collaborations and technological methods shape the artistic process? And how can these experiences be used to open up new perspectives on the pressing questions of our present? Echoes of Tomorrow invites artists, professionals, and the interested public to discover the artistic research projects of S+T+ARTS EC(H)O and to engage in discussion with artists, experts, and stakeholders.
