Symposium: "We'll Take Care of It—Addressing and Taking Action Against Discrimination in Healthcare"
Discrimination in the healthcare system sadly is a daily reality for many employees and patients. In many situations in hospitals and doctors’ offices, discrimination can be experienced, starting with scheduling an appointment and continuing through diagnosis and treatment. Barriers, racism, and anti-LGBTQ+ bias are just a few examples of everyday discrimination in the healthcare system. The mechanisms that lead to discrimination are often structural. This is harmful to everyone involved—but it also offers the potential to identify and change these mechanisms. The symposium on November 5, 2026, at the KUBUS in Leipzig, organised by "nadis - Netzwerk für eine Antidiskriminierungskultur in Sachsen", will explore, through expert presentations, a panel discussion, and practice-oriented workshops, where potential for discrimination lies and how concrete courses of action can be developed for one’s own field.
