sex and gender-sensitive medicine - start of the lecture series in summer semester 2026
Stereotypical role models are strongly anchored not only in the general population, but also in medical education and training. If you look at most medical textbooks, the patient is usually a neutral with a male connotation. However, this simplified model does not correspond to reality and research data shows that neglecting sex and gender aspects leads to poorer care for patients. This is where sex and gender-sensitive medicine comes in, by taking into account both the biological sex and the social gender of the patient. It is therefore part of individualized medicine.
From 15.04.2026 to 08.07.2026, selected topics of gender-sensitive medicine will be presented and discussed in depth in an online lecture series on Wednesdays from 5 - 6.30 pm. The lecture series is open to students, doctors and healthcare professionals alike and is registered with the Saxon State Medical Association for CME certification. A certificate of attendance can be issued on request. The event will take place online: https: //tu-dresden.zoom-x.de/j/65770618018?pwd=Tw2TP3sd2fhByv77HAoyjdb5anLdnF.1 (Meeting ID: 657 7061 8018, ID code: Pz9$qpx6).
