Today is Equal Pay Day!

February 27, 2026 is Equal Pay Day! The day symbolically marks the gender pay gap, which has been 16 percent in Germany since 2024. Until today, women will have to work longer beyond the turn of the year 2025/26 in order to receive the same pay as men in 2025. But how is the gender pay gap calculated? What exactly does it actually mean? And what are the causes of the gender pay gap - is it perhaps also linked to other forms of discrimination?
