STOP!" sticker campaign
You may have already spotted them in the wet rooms of Dresden University Medicine: eye-catching stickers that draw the attention of staff and students to the issue of (sexualized) harassment, discrimination and violence. The sticker sends a clear message: there is no place for abusive behaviour here! A survey (german only) of students and staff conducted in 2024 revealed that around two thirds of women and one third of men on our campus have been affected by sexism or (sexualized) discrimination, harassment or violence. A clear signal that measures must be taken for protection!
Many of those affected and also witnesses are unaware of the counseling, support and reporting services that are available. As an initial measure, the equal opportunities teams at MF-TUD and UKD want to use this tool to raise awareness, empower those affected and promote a culture of looking out for others. Particularly important: an integrated QR code that links directly to the contact details of the team. There, those affected and witnesses can find low-threshold support, confidential advice and information on further support services. The initiative is part of the institution's wider commitment to ensuring a respectful, safe and non-discriminatory working and learning environment. Prevention and education are crucial building blocks for bringing about long-term change.
