Global Health Winter School Dresden startet!
The Department of General Practice is organizing the 1st Global Health Winter School at the Medical Faculty of the TU Dresden from 6th - 10th of March 2023. More than 30 students in medicine, public health, midwifery, psychology and social sciences at the TU Dresden will come together to attend lectures with speakers from various national and international universities, institutes and organizations, e.g. Robert Koch-Institut, Doctors Without Borders, Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, Health for Future Dresden, and work on interactive case studies. In addition, Ukrainian residents and students from IFMCU Uzhgorod will join the Winter School online.
The Winter School aims to introduce students to general global health concepts such as social determinants of health, introduction to health systems and the global health stakeholder landscape. It will address three global health themes - migration and health, pandemic preparedness and planetary health. The focus will be on providing introductory knowledge in these fields and building tools students can use including analytical skills, competencies in cultural "otherness" and communication. The course will also highlight the importance of health systems response in particular the role of primary care to achieving universal health coverage. It will be conducted in both German and English.
