Prof. Klaus Scheuch (2.v.l.) bei der Verleihung der Paracelsus-Medaille 2025
Prof. Klaus Scheuch was awarded the Paracelsus Medal at the 129th German Medical Congress. With this medal, the German Medical Association honors his services to occupational medicine and its establishment as an integral part of the German healthcare system. In over 400 publications, 25 books and more than 600 lectures, he has shaped and expanded the field. In addition to Prof. Scheuch's commitment to occupational medicine, the German Medical Association also emphasizes his dedication to teaching. It was on his initiative that the Public Health degree program was established at the TU Dresden Faculty of Medicine in 1991.
In his laudatory speech, the President of the German Medical Association, Dr. Klaus Reinhardt, also paid tribute to his commitment to the Saxon State Medical Association, as a member of the Medical Expert Advisory Board on Occupational Diseases and as former President of the German Society for Occupational and Environmental Medicine (DGAUM).
Background
In 1952, the Presidium of the German Medical Association established the Paracelsus Medal as the highest award for deserving doctors. Since the year of its foundation, the Paracelsus Medal has generally been awarded annually to three doctors from Germany and abroad. The award is made by resolution of the Executive Board of the German Medical Association, which is to be announced at the German Medical Congress.
