Application hints and tips
If, at the time of the application, proof of the first degree that qualifies for a profession cannot yet be provided, applicants will be considered if 80% of the achievable points of the university degree can be proven by a certificate of the university of origin (Examining Office), on the basis of a completed module exam, assignment paper or colloquium. For Master study programmes with restricted admission (TU-NC), the certificate shall also include a provisional average mark, calculated on the basis of academic achievements already completed.
Applications for the 1st semesters are only possible in every even calendar year.
General information for the degree programme
The master’s programme in public health deals with the conditions for health, the reasons for diseases, the interactions between humans and their natural, technical and social surroundings, the promotion of health, the benefits of the healthcare system, the possibilities for political control as well as the evaluation and quality control of this system. It combines findings from medicine, epidemiology, social sciences and economics. The course of study aims at imparting theoretical basics, practical skills and the necessary competences for working in research, management, administration or industry.
The programme consists of basic courses (approx. 555 hours) and specialised courses (approx. 210 hours), which students are able to arrange individually (within a certain framework). Furthermore, students are expected to complete a project (210 hours) and a master’s thesis.
