Target agreement signed for Saxony's universities for the period 2025 to 2028
Today, Wednesday, December 11, Science Minister Sebastian Gemkow signed new target agreements for the years 2025 to 2028 together with the Rectors of Saxony's universities and the Deans of the Faculties of Medicine in Dresden and Leipzig.
The agreements define concrete goals for the further development of teaching, research and transfer at Saxony's universities.
In accordance with the goals of the Free State, the target agreement between the Faculty of Medicine Dresden and the Saxon Ministry of Science, Art and Tourism (SMWK) stipulates that the number of students in the six degree programs should at least be maintained or slightly increased. This is intended to ensure the supply of doctors and midwives in Saxony. The number and quality of doctorates was defined as an important target, as was the submission of invention disclosures. Last but not least, the Faculty of Medicine's network with non-university research institutions is to be sustainably strengthened through the establishment of Endowed Chairs.
Prof. Esther Troost, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Carl Gustav Carus at TU Dresden:
"Despite difficult framework conditions, we have succeeded in strengthening teaching and research at the Faculty of Medicine. In close cooperation with Dresden University Hospital, we want to continue to contribute to the provision of high-quality medical care in the future by expanding the degree programs in human medicine and midwifery and by consolidating the model degree program in medicine with Chemnitz Hospital. We will continue our core research areas in the field of oncological, metabolic and neurological/psychological diseases and work constantly to quickly transfer innovations into practice for the benefit of patients. Equality and digitalization are cross-sectional tasks that we want to think about and drive forward in all areas."
