Metabolic Diseases
Our goal is to improve the understanding, prevention and treatment of metabolic diseases - especially diabetes and related metabolic disorders - through excellent research, innovative teaching and social commitment. We want to close the gap between scientific knowledge and clinical care in order to open up new avenues in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of metabolic diseases. Our research programs are dedicated to the elucidation of pathophysiological mechanisms, the interaction between metabolism and the immune system and the development and testing of innovative treatment strategies.
MITS - Metabolic-Immunological Diseases and Therapy Technologies Saxony
The focus is on a translational and interdisciplinary approach that integrates methods from clinical research, molecular biology and digital health technologies. As a site of the German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD) we benefit from strong national and international networks that enable the transfer of research results into patient care quickly. Our work is characterized by precision, methodological diversity and
openness to new technologies. Our goal is to sustainably improve the quality of life of
patients in the long term and to transfer our scientific findings to society.
