CARUS DOCTORAL COLLEGE DRESDEN
Talented students of medicine and dentistry should be inspired for research at an early stage. For this reason, the Faculty of Medicine Carl Gustav Carus applied for funding from the Else Kröner-Fresenius Foundation in 2011. Out of 18 applicants, our faculty was selected for financing and hence establishing a Doctoral College Dresden with the aim to offer an optimal working and supervisory environment for collegiate students. The application for admission to the doctoral college is competitive, and the fellows must be prepared to pause their studies for at least six months up to one year. For this period, they receive a stipend and can focus entirely on their doctoral project.
Based on the structures of the Else Kröner Doctoral College, the doctoral college is continuing its work as the Carus Doctoral College Dresden (CPKD) of the Faculty of Medicine since 2019.
