Habilitation funding for women
"Have the courage! Even if a shoe seems half a size too big at first, put it on, it will soon fit. Six years ago, I would never have thought that I would be running a clinic now." Prof. Dr. med. Dr. Esther Troost, Dean of the Carl Gustav Carus Faculty of Medicine.
It is a central concern of the Faculty of Medicine to support the academic goals of its female scientists and thus sustainably increase the proportion of women in leadership positions in academic medicine. The habilitation support for women is intended to provide female scientists and researching female doctors with the freedom to fulfill the necessary requirements for opening the habilitation procedure for one year. This includes active participation in teaching and in-depth didactic training. Mentoring, networking opportunities and the possibility of individual coaching are also part of the program. The Faculty of Medicine provides three full-time positions per year for this purpose. The personalized, situation-specific funding (max. 1 FTE) can be applied for according to the individual needs of the applicants.
On May 26, 2025 at 4:30 p.m., an information event on habilitations including habilitation funding for women will take place in MITS, House 92, conference rooms on the ground floor. Prof. Dr. Guido Fitze - Chairman of the Habilitation Commission, Dr. Bernd Janetzky - Advisor to the Dean for Habilitations, Katja Legler - Habilitations staff member, PD Dr. Michael Rädel - Program Spokesperson for the Promotion of Women's Habilitation and a successfully funded women's habilitation candidate will provide an insight into habilitation and the promotion of habilitation for women. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity for a personal exchange and to ask your questions.
The public recruitment symposium will take place on 14.08.2025. All interested parties are welcome to attend.
