Event on ethics application / ethics committee
How do I submit an ethics application? What are the tasks of the ethics committee?
The DSCS invites you to a Clinical Science Meetup on Sept. 15, 2021 at 5 p.m. around the topic of ethics application / ethics committee.
Medical research should be guided by ethical principles. Ethics committees make an important and indispensable contribution in this regard by evaluating biomedical research projects according to scientific, ethical and legal criteria. In doing so, they act in the interest and for the protection of the subjects/patients. In addition, they ensure the protection of the researchers and protect them from misconduct, damage to their image and claims for recourse. As a rule, scientific work can only be financed and published if there is a positive vote from the ethics committee.
Prof. Bertold Renner will present the different areas of responsibility of the Ethics Committee, addressing the different reasons for submitting an application from the researchers' point of view. This concerns not only studies with patients or subjects, but also research with data, body fluids and tissue. The application procedure is described in detail and common mistakes are pointed out.
Prof. Bertold Renner is a clinical pharmacologist and deputy chairman of the Ethics Committee at the Technical University of Dresden and the Ethics Committee at the Saxon Medical Association. As former head of the office of the Ethics Committee in Erlangen, he has many years of experience in this field.
The event will take place in the MTZ, House 91, Lecture Hall 2.
