Neuland Series: Prof. Meiler: "Computational Structure Prediction and Therapeutic Design with Rosetta"
Fiedlerstraße 42
01307 Dresden
On 07.10.2021 (17:00, lecture hall 2 of the MTZ) we would like to invite you to the lecture of Prof. Dr. Jens Meiler "Computational Structure Prediction and Therapeutic Design with Rosetta". The lecture is part of the DSCS event series Neuland Series, which presents innovative research approaches directly related to our region. Jens Meiler studied chemistry at the University of Leipzig and subsequently received his PhD from the Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe University in Frankfurt. In the research group of David Baker at Washington University in Seattle, he was involved in the development of the protein modeling software Rosetta since 2001. In 2005, he was appointed to Vanderbilt University in Nashville. In 2020, Jens Meiler assumed a Humboldt Professorship to head the newly founded Institute for Drug Development at the University of Leipzig.
Jens Meiler develops computational methods in the fields of: Structure determination of membrane proteins, computer-aided drug discovery and the design of new protein therapeutics. His application "CMI - Center for Medicine Innovation" for a large-scale research center in the context of structural change in Lusatia is among the finalists of the joint call for proposals of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the Free State of Saxony and the State of Saxony-Anhalt. By combining medical technology, digitization and drug design, a center of biomedical research and personalized medicine is to be created here.
