Promotion of young scientists - Dresden School of Clinical Science (DSCS)
Promoting early-career researchers and training excellent scientists is a particular concern of the Faculty of Medicine at TU Dresden. All participating programs are bundled and interlinked under the umbrella of the Dresden School of Clinical Science (DSCS). This creates optimal conditions for early-career researchers at all career stages.

Tasks of the Dresden School of Clinical Science
The Dresden School of Clinical Science (DSCS)bundles and interlinks the Faculty of Medicine's funding structures for scientific career paths in university medicine, with the aim of linking excellence in research even more closely and sustainably with the challenges of patient care.
The DSCS
- creates"interfaces" between clinically and scientifically trained researchers and between young and advanced scientists from different disciplines.
- wants to inspire young physicians for science and accompany them on their career path as clinician scientists.
- supports young scientists(medical scientists) who are working on patient-oriented topics and whose research builds a bridge between understanding mechanisms and treating diseases.
The funding extends from the doctoral phase in the Carus Doctoral College or one of the associated collaborative research projects through the decisive phase of the postdoctoral period or specialist training to the habilitation as an "Advanced Clinician Scientist". Through interdisciplinary and interprofessional communication platforms and the bundling of curricula, the DSCS creates optimal conditions for close and sustainable cooperation between clinical research and basic biomedical research. Common to all funding lines is the competitive selection process.
The Faculty of Medicine offers various funding opportunities for early-career researchers. These funding programs are designed to provide early-career researchers with optimal support at the various career stages.
Carus Doctoral College
The Carus Doctoral College of the Faculty of Medicine at TU Dresden offers a clearly structured supervision and quality assurance concept for the completion of dissertations. to the Carus Doctoral College website
Keep-on-Track
"Keep on track" is a follow-up funding program for doctoral candidates in medicine, which follows the leave of absence in the experimental phase of the doctorate. The funding enables excellent and motivated medical students to continue their connection to a scientific working group through their own SHK position, to purposefully complete a high-quality doctorate and to prepare their first publications. to the Keep-on-Track website
MeDDrive
Project funding can be applied for as part of a MeDDrive project. MeDDrive funding offers young researchers the opportunity to work more intensively on a scientific question of their own choice for the first time. to the MeDDrive website
ForwarDD
The ForwarDD Clinician Scientist Program of the Dresden University Medical Center supports clinically active physicians and dentists in parallel to their medical training. In addition to protected research time, ForwarDD offers mentoring and a binding structure that enables a successful combination of tasks in research, teaching and patient care in academic medicine. to the ForwarDD website
Women's habilitation
The habilitation funding for women supports female scientists on their way to habilitation. to the website Frauenhabil
The DSCS aims to offer early-career researchers a stimulating environment that enables them to develop an eye for the central social challenges in academic medicine alongside their scientific work. The training opportunities offered by the DSCS and the participating early career support programs actively support young scientists in their careers in translational medicine. Strengthening scientific and professionally relevant skills are addressed as well as individual career planning and ensuring quality and sustainability in research.
