BMG funds research into women's health
The Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) funds research into women's health.
Funding is provided for individual or collaborative research projects on the topic of "Patient-centered care for women" and "Junior research groups on women's health care research". The funding guidelines can be found on BMG's website.
Thematic priorities:
- Care of diseases specific to women;
- Care of diseases with women-specific manifestations, for example with regard to prevalence, incidence, symptoms, disease burden, progression,
- Treatment approaches or treatment response;
- Effects of social inequality on healthcare for women in Germany; inequalities in access to the healthcare system, quality of care or utilization of services;
- Impact of the gender data gap on women's healthcare in Germany; prevention of gender bias in algorithms and AI systems in healthcare;
- Provision, curation and analysis of women-related routine and registry data to improve healthcare in Germany;
- Care of women with endometriosis with a focus on practical care and psychosocial aspects, health literacy, communication between the treating and treated person and information/education;
- Care for women in the menopause, including pre-, peri- and postmenopause;
- Care relating to the desire to have children, pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period;
- Care for women affected by violence.
The application procedure has two stages. The deadline for submitting the project outline for both funding guidelines is 13.02.2026 at 12:00 pm.
