Episode 34: Oxytocin - Sound and Science
Our podcast series YOU ASK we explain started in 2023 and is published monthly. Full house, strong questions, palpable excitement: around 150 guests were there live when we discussed oxytocin - the "cuddle hormone" - in cooperation with the Dresden Music Festival and TUD Lectures+. Scientists from TU Dresden explained its effects and research live on stage - including a real oxytocin measurement. The results are currently being analyzed. Information on the results can be found on the Dresden Music Festival website. The podcast of the event will be available from July - wherever podcasts are available.
Is music the food of love? The current edition of the "Sound & Science" series explored this exciting question, which is entirely in keeping with this year's motto "LOVE", and embarked on an interesting scientific-musical search for clues. Oxytocin is a true all-rounder with the ability to strengthen the immune system and reduce stress, anxiety and even pain. Due to its many positive effects on the body, oxytocin is sometimes even referred to as a "miracle hormone".
