10th Doctoral Day
Interdisciplinary Research in Focus: 10th Doctoral Day of Medical Informatics and Biometry
On 10/11 March 2026, doctoral candidates, supervisors and interested colleagues came together in the premises of ScaDS.AI Dresden for the 10th Doctoral Day of Medical Informatics and Biometry. Over two days, the event offered space for current research work, constructive feedback and open exchange about scientific questions, challenges and perspectives in the everyday life of a doctorate.
The program once again made clear how diverse and interdisciplinary the topics in Medical Informatics are:
The presented works ranged from AI-supported sleep analysis, clinical data analysis and multi-omics integration to questions concerning rare diseases and hematology, all the way to interoperability, data quality and standardized data use. Infrastructural and methodological contributions as well, for example on the harmonization of data in the OMOP Common Data Model or on the transfer of German billing data into international terminologies, underlined the close connection between methodological development and practical applicability.
Besides the technical contributions, the Doctoral Day offered space to practically try out science communication. In prepared short pitches, the doctoral candidates worked on clear narrative structures and on communicating their research in an understandable, concise and audience-appropriate way. Especially this mixture of technical depth, collegial openness and mutual support made the event particularly valuable.
The Doctoral Day was rounded off by a joint closing in the evening, which offered the opportunity to continue conversations in an informal atmosphere and to further strengthen networking beyond topic and project boundaries.
The 10th Doctoral Day was therefore not only a stage for current doctoral projects, but above all a lively forum for scientific exchange, new impulses and joint further thinking.
A heartfelt thanks goes to all doctoral candidates, supervisors and contributors who enriched the Doctoral Day with their contributions, questions and discussions.
We look forward to the next exchange around our dissertations!
