Meeting of Early-Career Research Groups
How can complex research be communicated in a clear, concise, and target-group-oriented way?
This question was explored in depth by the doctoral researchers of our early-career research groups on 12 June 2026, during the second NWG working meeting of the year. The focus was on further developing and jointly practicing scientific pitches.
In a collegial atmosphere, presentation approaches were discussed, storylines refined, and mutual feedback was provided. The aim was to clearly and convincingly communicate one’s own research topics.
The meeting was complemented by insights into current research projects. Doctoral researchers had the opportunity to present and discuss their ongoing work.
Saran Karthikeyan presented his current research under the title “A Combination of Multimodal Optimization Methodologies and Artificial Intelligence for Improving Healthcare Logistical Operational Management: An Evidence-Based Decision Support for Multi-Objective Intra-Hospital Patient Transportation.”
His dissertation focuses on improving logistical workflows and transport management by combining established multimodal strategies with artificial intelligence to optimize routing for multi-objective patient transport within hospitals.
Luisa F. Mejia presented on the topic “Patient Journey Mapping: A Practical Guide to Promote Interdisciplinary Research Collaboration in the Development of eHealth Applications – A Case Report.” She focuses on user-centered development of digital health solutions in pediatric oncology.
A particular emphasis is placed on patient journey mapping as a method to systematically integrate user needs into the development process and to design practice-oriented digital care solutions.
