Athens: The ZMI at ICIMTH 2026
Our research associate Priya Vishnu had the opportunity to present her research at the 24th International Conference on Informatics, Management, and Technology in Healthcare (ICIMTH 2026) in Athens, Greece.
The conference was organized by the Greek Biomedical and Health Informatics Association and this year's theme was: "Health Sciences Informatics Leads and Empowers the Digital Health Transformation."
The title of her presentation was: "Towards Data Quality Assessment and Representability of German Healthcare Claims Data for Secondary Use".

In addition to presenting her research, the conference provided valuable insights into current developments in medical informatics, interoperability, and artificial intelligence. The following topics are particularly worth highlighting:
- LLM-assisted clinical data harmonisation and OMOP mapping
- Automated ETL generation with semantic vocabulary mapping
- Clinical decision support systems (CDSS) and equity-aware decision support
- Digital twins in healthcare based on FHIR, openEHR, and OMOP
- Fairness and governance in LLM-based emergency triage systems
- Wearable sensors for health monitoring
Furthermore, the conference provided an excellent opportunity for professional exchange with researchers and experts from different countries.
Outside the conference programme, our research associate also had the opportunity to explore Athens and visit the Acropolis—an especially memorable highlight that further enriched the trip.
Outlook
Building on this work, Priya Vishnu will continue her research on data quality issues and assessment methods for healthcare claims data. A particular focus will be on data linkage, interoperability, and assessing the suitability of routine healthcare data for secondary use.
