Best Student Paper Award for Florin Teschner at ICIMTH 2026

We are pleased to congratulate Florin Teschner on receiving the Best Student Paper Award at the 18th International Conference on Informatics, Management and Technology in Healthcare (ICIMTH 2026), held in Athens, Greece, for the paper "Evaluating Prompt Strategies for LLM-Based De-Identification of German Discharge Letters: A Feasibility Study Using GraSCCo". 

The award recognizes Florin's outstanding contribution as part of his Master's thesis, which investigates the use of large language models (LLMs) for the anonymization of German clinical discharge letters. The work systematically evaluates different prompt engineering strategies and preprocessing approaches to improve the de-identification of sensitive patient information while preserving the clinical utility of the documents. Using the synthetic GraSCCo corpus as a benchmark, the study demonstrates how prompt design and document structure substantially influence anonymization performance, providing valuable insights for future privacy-preserving clinical NLP applications.

The project was carried out within our ongoing research on trustworthy artificial intelligence and clinical text processing, contributing to the development of scalable de-identification workflows for secondary use of healthcare data and medical research.

Beyond the scientific success, ICIMTH 2026 provided an excellent opportunity for international exchange. The conference brought together researchers from the fields of medical informatics, artificial intelligence, and digital health, enabling inspiring discussions and new networking opportunities.
