DMEA 2026
Our team at the Centre for Medical Informatics (ZMI) demonstrated a strong cross-project presence at DMEA 2026 and made extensive use of the event for exchange, networking, and professional input:
Prof. Dr. Martin Sedlmayr moderated the sessions “Health Networks – working digitally together: strategies for regional care” as well as “Stronger together for the care of tomorrow: international perspectives on networked healthcare”. In addition, in his role as PI of MiHUB, he acted as a contact person at the booth of the Medical Informatics Initiative (MII) for the DigiHubs.
Anne Seim supported the MII booth in her function as networking coordinator of the MII-junior research groups (NWG). Numerous students took the opportunity to learn about career paths in science, entry opportunities, and potential theses. A highlight was the visit of the NWG NDE Mobil, which provided a hands-on insight into its applications with its “Typing Challenge” and made it possible to analyse one’s own typing behaviour. Karolin Hofmann also participated at the MII-booth and contributed as part of the MiHUB coordination team.

Dr. Eveline Prochaska, Dr. Kathrin Sobe, Dr. Claudia Heine, Karolin Hofmann, and Marcel Dilje were on site as a team from KIMed Dresden. For KIMed – Network for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, this was its first own booth at DMEA, where many interested visitors were given insights into the latest project work and networking was actively promoted.

Dr. Eveline Prochaska, head of the Interoperability research area, also contributed to various specialist formats, including the GMDS satellite event on patient portals, the expert circle Digital Health and AI of the VDE DGBMT, and the round table talk hosted by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) and the German Chambers of Commerce Abroad (AHK) on AI in medical technology, where questions around innovation and procurement were discussed.
Dr. Elisa Henke, spokesperson of the Working Group External Data (MII/Network University Medicine (NUM)) and head of the ZMI research area Interoperability, used DMEA to inform herself about current developments and practical solutions in the field of interoperability and the use of external data in healthcare, while Carolin Markert used the event as a representative of the Dresden Transfer Office to network in a targeted way and to familiarise herself with subject-specific innovations, including the future integration of AI.
Dr. Claudia Heine represented the MII booth in her role as spokesperson of the Communication Working Group. The cross-site MII team presented the work of the initiative, sustainable reuse approaches, and current project results. Particularly valuable were the many discussions with stakeholders from research, healthcare, politics, and industry.
Overall, DMEA 2026 was a highly motivating event for ZMI, where we spent three days fully focused on Digital Health—experiencing and actively shaping it together.
