Our research assistants Sophia Grummt and Caroline Glathe gave an insight into digital health applications and digital support options specifically for CRPS - complex regional pain syndrome - at an online group meeting of the CRPS Netzwerk gemeinsam stark e.V. on 14 May.
The 24 participants first learned why the German healthcare system urgently needs to be digitalised and what the current status of e-health applications is. Sophia Grummt also gave an insight into digital health applications (DiGa): Where are the apps, which can be prescribed on prescription since the end of 2020, available for all to see? How is their quality assured? What benefits do they offer and how does their authorisation process work?
Caroline Glathe took over with an all-round look at digital applications that are specifically tailored to CRPS, presenting current research findings, ongoing studies, teletherapy options and serious games for CRPS. Of particular interest are those games that are being developed specifically for therapeutic purposes and offer a promising approach to pain relief. Some of these virtual reality-based applications are already being used successfully in combination with rehabilitation programmes.
The event was very well received, many questions were answered and experiences exchanged. This was the second evening on which team members from the MiHUBx project and the Centre for Medical Informatics in Dresden (ZMI) shared knowledge from the project context with a group meeting of the CRPS network. This work is part of their mission to involve patients in digital developments at an early stage, i.e. to explore their needs and requirements for digital products in medicine and to provide them with the latest knowledge from research.
The feedback from the meeting was extremely positive - a continuation of the collaboration is planned.
