New publication on modeling treatment-free remission in CML in npj Systems Biology and Applications
Together with our colleague Artur Fassoni (Universidade Federal de Itajubá, Brazil) and clinical partners from Australia and UK, Ingo Roeder and Ingmar Glauche have published a new study titled “Predicting treatment-free remission in chronic myeloid leukemia patients using an integrated model of tumor-immune dynamics.” in npj Systems Biology and Applications. In this work, we present a mechanistic and data-driven modeling framework that integrates tumor and immune cell interactions to better understand treatment outcomes in CML. By combining clinical time-course data on tumor and immune dynamics, the model allows us to identify key regulatory mechanisms governing treatment-free remission and relapse. The study highlights the potential of mathematical modeling to predict patient-specific outcomes and to guide optimized treatment cessation strategies. This work represents a further step towards quantitative, personalized medicine that incorporates immune dynamics to support clinical decision-making.
