Review of Dies Academicus 2026: Many conversations, strong interest, and new impulses for doctoral projects
No stopping zone for good conversations: At Dies Academicus, the Chair of Medical Informatics presented posters on current research and PhD opportunities.
At Dies Academicus 2026, the Chair of Medical Informatics presented two posters on current research and doctoral opportunities. The focus was on topics at the interface of medicine, AI, health data, and clinical application. We support topics ranging from interoperability, data science, and personalized medicine to patient-centered applications and usability.
What I appreciated most was the strong interest and the many stimulating conversations throughout the event. The exchange with students and interested visitors once again showed how high the demand is for data-driven, clinically relevant, and methodologically well-supported doctoral projects.
Our posters highlighted the broad thematic range of the chair, from routine data, the Data Integration Center, OMOP, and FHIR to machine learning, synthetic data, biosignals, oncology, PROMs, and patient-centered applications. In addition, they presented concrete doctoral perspectives, for example in rare diseases, data quality in medical research data, AI-supported use of clinical texts, and international observational studies.
Many thanks to everyone who stopped by for their interest, openness, and motivating conversations. We are very pleased about the many new points of connection – not only on a personal level, but across the entire chair and the involved research groups that contribute to and further develop these topics. Although I represented the chair at the event, the follow-up discussions on potential doctoral projects and thematic collaborations concern several parts of our team.
The poster is also available online on figshare.
