Practical year in Occupational Medicine
Welcome! We are pleased that you are interested in the possibilities of a practical year (PJ) in occupational medicine.
In your PJ-time at the company ambulance and the institute and polyclinic for occupational and social medicine (IPAS) you will get an insight into the work of occupational health professionals. PJ training is possible in 8 or 16 weeks.
We will introduce you to the daily procedures in an occupational health service outpatient clinic, such as individual counseling and examination (while taking into account the specific profession of patients), risk assessment and dealing with occupational health and safety issues, as well as socio-medical issues.
In our Policlinic for Occupational and Social Medicine we provide assessments, performance diagnostics and follow-up examinations (for example in the cases of ex-employees with asbestos exposure). We furthermore engage in research activities and the processing of scientific questions.
In addition to occupational medicine skills, you will have the opportunity to deal scientifically with an occupational health issue. In doing so you must acquire the ability to familiarise yourself with already existing knowledge on your chosen topic and to interpret, implement and present the findings with the help of the methods of evidence-based medicine.
You can expect versatile and varied medical activities in a preventive medicine-oriented work area!
