2026 Laboratory Instructors' Conference in Magdeburg
The Laboratory Instructors' Conference (PLT) has a tradition dating back more than 50 years. The annual meeting brings together lecturers, tutors, technicians, and interested individuals to exchange ideas on a wide range of topics related to physics lab courses in higher education, learn about local characteristics, and discuss future prospects and opportunities for further development. This year’s event was hosted by Otto von Guericke University in Magdeburg from September 13 to September 16.
Highlights of the diverse program included:
- Presentation of the Teaching Organization: Insights into the teaching and learning concepts of the conference host. Learn more about the organization and the unique features of the various lab courses, as well as physics-related degree programs.
- Focus on Lab Experiments: Presentations on new or particularly innovative lab experiments.
- Lab Facility Tours: Join guided tours of the various lab facilities for physics, physics education, physics labs for medical students, and the Stimulate Research Campus.
- Company Exhibition: A highlight of the conference is the company exhibition. Here, leading manufacturers present their latest products and solutions in the areas of teaching materials, measuring instruments, lab experiments, and software.
The insight into the physics lab course for medical students and the exchange of experiences with colleagues from locations across Germany were also particularly interesting.
The event was capped off with a fantastic physics show performed by students, which has since become a staple of the annual Day of Physics in Magdeburg.
