MD-projects
The group Cancer metabolism offers in cooperation with the Carus Promotionskolleg the 12 month funded MD-thesis project Overcoming chemo-resistance of colorectal tumors by targeting bioenergetics. MD-students with a strong interest in translational cancer research are welcome to get in touch with the group leader Mohamed Elgendy.
Open Postdoc position Cancer Metabolism
Dr. Elgendy will support the application of candidates for postdoctoral fellowships. The candidate will be trained on application writing and if successful, will work in a dynamic, friendly and international research group. Work in Dr.Elgendy’s lab is supported by the very competitive ERC fund, a fund allocated by the European Commission for projects with highest scientific potential.
The research focus of the group is to dissect metabolic alterations in tumors and the links between metabolic adaptations and tumor progression, metastasis and drug resistance . For further reading please see (Elgendy et al., Cancer Cell 2019), (Elgendy et al., Journal of Clinical Investigation, 2017), (Elgendy et al., Nature Communications 2014).
Dr. Elgendy‘s group exploits a broad range of techniques including cell based assays, molecular biology and biochemical methods, advanced imaging, in-vivo mouse models, as well as proteomics and metabolomics screenings. The position thus offers unmatched training opportunity for an ambitious, independent and hard working scientist who strives to expand their technical expertise, develop their career and produce high quality scientific output.
The research group is embedded at the Institute of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine at the University Hospital Dresden and the Mildred Scheel Early Career Center (MSNZ) at the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT/UCC Dresden), which provide an excellent network for translational oncological research and career development. The University Hospital Dresden and the Faculty of Medicine Carl Gustav Carus are jointly committed to excellence in medical research, high-performance medicine and teaching in order to provide state-of-the-art healthcare services.
Applicants should email a detailed CV, bibliography, cover letter and the name of two references to Dr. Mohamed Elgendy (mohamed.elgendy@uniklinikum-dresden.de).
