MSNZ network meeting 2024
On September 4, 2024, the spokespersons and coordinators of all MSNZ sites met with representatives of the German Cancer Aid for the annual MSNZ network meeting at the Gustav Stresemann Institute in Bonn. The latest developments at the five German MSNZ locations - Aachen/Bonn/Cologne/Düsseldorf, Dresden, Frankfurt/Main, Hamburg and Würzburg - were the subject of heated discussion, in keeping with the hot and humid weather.
It was exciting to look back and see how the programs have developed over the last five years, sometimes differently, sometimes congruently at the locations.
Many implemented measures were presented with the aim of improving the translation of new findings from the laboratory to patients. In particular, one Fellow from each location had their say. For our Dresden site, Anna Taubenberger had the opportunity to present her success story and very personal experiences.
One “best practice” that has already been implemented in a variety of ways was the introduction of funding for team science projects. At our MSNZ site in Dresden in particular, the tandem groups of medical and clinician scientists have been established very successfully.
While the last few years have been dedicated to the development and testing of measures, in the future we will work even more intensively on exchange, synergies between the centers and the implementation of successful measures in “regular operations”.
