Tables are just text and lines, but very effective for giving a systematic overview of data. Of all visualizations, tables have the longest scientific history. Miescher reported the discovery of DNA as a table, Mendel presented his genetics in tabular form, and the periodic table was invented 100 years ago. This week we’ll learn everything about making well-organized tables for papers and grants.
We'll cover lines and typography. Which fonts allow you to present numbers? Why are serif fonts difficult? When do you need vertical and horizontal lines? How can you fit more into your table?
PS You have an example table you want feedback on? Send it in and we’ll discuss improving it together! helena.jambor@tu-dresden.de
