Opening ceremony of Bakteriopolis at COSMO
Opening Ceremony on March 24
The exhibition will be ceremonially opened on March 24 at 6:00 PM at COSMO. Everyone interested is warmly invited to celebrate the launch of Bakteriopolis with us. For planning purposes, we kindly ask you register in advance – we look forward to welcoming many guests. Light snacks and drinks will be provided.
For six weeks, the COSMO Science Forum in the heart of Dresden will transform into a vibrant world of microbes. The traveling exhibition Bakteriopolis will be expanded and presented for the first time in a spacious exhibition area in the city center. This creates new opportunities for additional exhibits and interactive stations designed to inspire visitors about the hidden world of bacteria.
The exhibition focuses on vivid representations of bacterial lifestyles, connections to everyday life, and numerous hands-on activities. It is complemented, among other things, by bacterial models provided by the Leibniz Institute DSMZ – German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures GmbH.
Accompanying Program and Collaborations
In parallel with the exhibition, the CRISPR Roadshow "Die Genschere in Dresden” will take place at COSMO from March 26 to 29. With workshops, lab courses, a science café, and additional formats, it complements Bakteriopolis by addressing current topics related to CRISPR-Cas. Further events are planned, including a building workshop with fungal mycelium as well as fermentation workshops. Stay up to date by following us on Instagram @bakteriopolis or visiting our website.
Bakteriopolis is funded within the framework of the DFG Priority Programme SPP 2389.
