Doctoral student Lena Friebel with video contribution at the EUTOPIA Impact School
As part of further training in science communication at the EUTOPIA Impact School, doctoral student Lena Friebel created a video about her doctoral topic. In it, she explains a form of programmed cell death in bacteria - so-called "cannibalism" - in a vivid and creative way. The video illustrates parallels between human cities and bacterial biofilms and shows scientific approaches to analyzing the effects of cannibalism on biofilm architecture. Her work is part of research into bacterial multicellularity SPP 2389.
Participation in the EUTOPIA Impact School enabled her to engage in international exchange with students from all over Europe and to actively participate in shaping an interdisciplinary learning environment. With her video contribution, Lena is making a valuable contribution to science communication and at the same time gaining important international experience.
