INSTITUTE OF MICROBIOLOGY
The Institute of Microbiology consists of currently three independent research groups and a senior professorship that investigate different aspects of microbiology. Research topics include biotechnology, microbial physiology, gene regulation and signal transduction, protein engineering, systems and synthetic biology. The organisms under investigation reflect the diversity of microbial life on earth and range from classical model bacteria, to archaea and yeasts.
Through lectures and seminars, our students are thoroughly trained in all aspects of modern microbiology. Our practical courses provide hands-on experience in microbial and molecular techniques. Advanced courses aim at incorporating students early in their career into ongoing research projects.
