Professorships of Inorganic Chemistry

Chair of Inorganic Chemistry I

Owner of the professorship is Prof. Dr. Stefan Kaskel. The chair explores modern inorganic materials from synthesis to characterization and application. Research fields are battery systems, nanoparticles, metal-organic framework compounds (MOF) as well as nanocomposites and hybrid materials.

Chair of Inorganic Chemistry II

Owner of the professorship is Prof. Dr. Michael Ruck. The chair develops energy-efficient low temperature syntheses for metallic materials and innovative material concepts for molecular and nanoelectronics. Another focus of the working group lies on the discovery of new compounds with extraordinary chemical and physical properties.

Chair of Inorganic Molecular Chemistry

Owner of the professorship is Prof. Dr. Jan J. Weigand. The research activities of the group are focused on the development of new and modern concepts in synthesis for phosphorus based compounds. This includes also the investigation of novel reactivities and the sustainable application as multifunctional ligand systems for binding as well as extraction of metal ions.

Prof. Dr. Thomas Doert

Prof. Dr. Thomas Doert works as a private lecturer in the working group ACII and was appointed as an associated professor in 2012. He explores the synthesis, structure determination and characterization of pnictides and chalcogenides.

Honorary Professorship of Chemical Metallurgy

Inhaber der Professur ist Prof. Juri Grin, Direktor am Max-Planck-Institut für Chemische Physik fester Stoffe. Die Arbeitsgruppe untersucht strukturellen Aufbau, chemische Bindung und deren Zusammenhang mit chemischen und physikalischen Eigenschaften intermetallischer Verbindungen.

The Department of Inorganic Chemistry

The Department of Inorganic Chemistry comprises three professorships (owner of the professorships), an associated professor, two honorary professorships, and more than 80 employees.

The Institute for Inorganic Chemistry can refer to a decades-long tradition, in which well-known scientists contributed to the development of the Technische Hochschule Dresden, and contributed to their reputation and world-wide reputation.
